The Floating Cinema, Canals of London

Won in an architectural competition run by The Architecture Foundation, the project involved designing a new barge to house a mobile cinema and arts venue. The barge tours the waterways of London and the UK during the Spring and Summer months, bringing events ranging from small on board screenings, canal tours, workshops, talks and large outdoor shows, to audiences of 500+.  Working with the architects and a naval architect, we developed a slender enclosure and other items such as a telescopic projection mast. The boat was fabricated at Turks Shipyard in the Historic Docks in Chatham and has a Hybrid Marine engine system that run on Bio Fuel. The project is curated by UP Projects and is supported by Foundation for FutureLondon, Canal & River Trust, Arts Council England, BFI awarding funds from The National Lottery and King's Cross Central Limited Partnership.
