The Hurlingham Club Outdoor Pool, London

The architects for this project asked Price & Myers and fabricator Commercial Systems International to come up with an alternative roof design that drew upon our experience of stressed skin plywood roof structures. The 50m long roof tapers in plan and has an aerofoil shaped section. We designed a system of modular prefabricated cassettes that share common architectural details but are unique to their position in the building. They were designed and made using advanced computer modelling and manufacturing techniques. The efficiency of the structure and the manufacturing techniques led to cost savings for the client and a more slender and elegant roof for the building.

Completed 2011.
