The Oaklands Centre, Woodley, Berkshire | HawkinsBrown

This scheme is a real result of 'localism', where a town council and the local community raised funds to build new council offices and an arts centre. Our competition-winning design collected together a whole series of uses that had been spread across Woodley Park into a single, busy building on a much more visible site. This released large areas of the Park to replanting for public use, not least that the operational parking was relocated across the road in an under used public car park. The building includes an unusual combination of arts theatre, conference rooms, police station, courts and council offices, in many ways prefiguring our work at Corby Cube.
