MK40 Tower, Milton Keynes | dRMM

To mark the occassion of the 40th anniversary of the city of Milton Keynes, the Milton Keynes Gallery invited dRMM to design a temporary sculpture.
MK Forty Tower was manufactured as a freestanding structure pre-fabricated in sections make of KLH cross-laminated timber. Erected in 7 days, the tower opened to the public in August 2007. At 19 metres high, it dominated the square in front of the Milton Keynes Gallery, rising above the theatre and gallery's roof canopy. Visitors climbed 101 wooden steps to reach the platform and panoramic views of the city and beyond.
