Building Awards Sustainable Project of the Year, runner up

Bushbury Hill Primary School, Wolverhampton | Architype

The school is constructed from a timber frame, all windows are triple glazed and the building has high level of airtightness.
Newspapers were collected in schools during the construction period and used for insulation material in a layer that wraps the entire building, including the building slab. Concrete piles and ground beams are fully isolated from the slab by the insulation layer, which also provides a bearing for the external brick cladding.
