20-22 Chenies Street, London

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art identified the potential development value of one of their sites in Chenies Street. The existing building has been replaced with a nine-storey mixed-use development. The upper floors are residential and the lower floors are used by RADA for teaching and rehearsal spaces. The new structure is built on a raft foundation, part of which goes over the proposed Chelsea to Hackney underground line. The building has a reinforced concrete frame with substantial transfer beams to create large un-interrupted spaces in the teaching areas.

Completed 2005.
