60 Fenchurch Street, London

New thirteen-storey multiple use office building with basement incorporating steel framing and long span beams to create a 15m x 27m clear floor space at every level. To give the structure lateral stability the west facade has a stiffened steel frame that acts in conjunction with the two reinforced concrete core elements on the east side. To enhance the lateral stiffness two of the steel columns were offset from the main grid so that they could act compositely with the reinforced concrete cores. Steel beams were fitted around the M & E services which allowed for floor to floor heights to be kept to a minimum.

Completed 2004.
