Butterfield Park, Luton

The first phase of this project involved the construction of five discrete two storey buildings on a green field site in Luton. We were appointed to provide both structural and civil consultancy services. The buildings are conventional reinforced concrete frames with the ventilation to the buildings being provided by buried earth ducts. The ducts range in diamater from 900mm to 1050mm and are a minimum of 85m long with a soil cover of 900mm. All of the underground services were required to be co-ordinated with the earth ducts. The Park Centre (main building), has a floating stair that curves 90 degrees in plan.

Completed 2007.
