Colyer-Fergusson Music Building, University of Kent, Canterbury

New music building for the University of Kent on their main Canterbury campus providing a flexible auditorium with adjustable acoustics, alongside associated practice rooms, teaching and rehearsal space, and a foyer linking with the Gulbenkian theatre complex. The acoustics for the building had to be carefully worked out as the University believes the hall is the finest of its size in Kent, and will be used for small ensembles as well as full orchestral events with large audiences. The practice rooms also had to be acoustically isolated and will double up as green room and backstage space. The double-height, top-lit foyer and public area are used for social and study spaces, a first floor gallery and a foyer performance stage.

Completed 2012.
