Cowan Court, Churchill College, Cambridge

An international design competition winning scheme for new halls of residence at Churchill College. The new building is reminiscent of the existing British brutalist courtyards, designed by Sheppard Robson in the 1960s, that make up the majority of the college, but while these buildings are made of concrete and brick, the new structure is a structural timber frame clad in reclaimed oak boards, from French railway wagons. The project provided the college with 68 new student ensuite rooms, with a community room on the ground floor and storage in the basement.

Completed 2016.
