Emmanuel College Library, Cambridge

Price & Myers were appointed with Kilburn Nightingale following an invited competition for the refurbishment and extension of the Edwardian Grade II Listed library at Emmanuel College to improve accessibility and to improve the main reading room and reading spaces. A 1970s addition is extended and clad in sustainable timber ‘pods’ to provide additional reading spaces, offices and storage. Sustainable environmental controls to improve reader comfort and provide a stable environment for the conservation of books and archives is an important part of the new design.

Completed 2010.
