Golden Lane Campus, London

New three-storey educational facility in the Barbican area, City of London. The local schools of Richard Cloudsley, Prior Western and Fortune Park have been relocated to the new campus as an initiative of the London Borough of Islington to integrate students with special needs. The structure below and including the 1st floor podium is a conventional reinforced concrete frame founded on piled foundations. Piled foundations were adopted due to the depth of made ground and difficult archaeology. The podium transfer slab supports three steel framed buildings. The podium level houses a Multi-Use Games Area, landscaped planters and freestanding play equipment. The floors for the double storey steel buildings are formed from composite concrete slabs. In addition to the structural design, Price and Myers designed the sub-surface drainage.

Completed 2008.
