Grafton Street, London

The rebuilding of a Georgian townhouse following extensive damage caused by a fire in February 2012 as part of an insurance claim valued at around £8m. The existing property is a Grade I listed five-storey townhouse in an exclusive street in Mayfair, one of a handful of remaining of a block of fourteen houses designed by Sir Robert Taylor dating around 1770. The house has recently been stripped of damaged structure and finishes in preparation to reinstate. The main historic features of the house, a beautiful stone staircase and a partly original plastered ceiling, have been protected during the works. The Client meanwhile is exploring alterations to the previous layouts as part of the reinstatement. The whole project is being done under the observation of the Clients Insurers and Loss Adjustors.

Due for completion 2014.
