Locking Castle, Somerset

6,000 sq m of primary school and community facilities including a severe learning disabilities school. The building includes a large dining area, sports hall and hydrotherapy pool along with external playgrounds and pitches. The structure is steel-framed with cranked steel north-light roofs and curved steel elevations. Due to the difficult ground conditions of the marshy site, precast concrete has been used for driven pile foundations and the floor slabs, the level of which been raised to avoid flooding.
