Meads Reach Bridge, Bristol

This competition winning footbridge spans 55m over the floating harbour in Bristol. It is completely constructed from stainless steel and was lifted into place using one of Europe’s largest cranes. Patterns of stress are represented on the surface of the bridge with 50,000 laser cut holes. We built a detailed 3D computer model of the entire structure (including all the holes), which enabled each component to be laser cut from stainless steel sheets.

Completed 2008.
