Gateway Building, School of Biosciences, University of Nottingham, Nottingham

This elongated building accommodates open-plan office space and meeting rooms as well as laboratory space. Prefabricated energy-efficient materials were used throughout the three-storey concrete framed structure, including environmentally sustainable Strawbale panels, alongside insitu concrete for the structural frame. The mass of the concrete frame helps to maintain a constant temperature within the building thus reducing the necessity of additional cooling and heating. The building has been rated BREEAM Excellent. This was a Design & Build project.

Completed 2011.
