Senior Common Room, St John's College, Oxford

A new extension to the Senior Common Room. The 1950’s part of the building was demolished leaving the original 17th century core. The new common room has a reinforced concrete structure within a glass box; the concrete will be finely detailed including precast elements cast with white cement and aggregate. The glass box keeps the structure to the absolute minimum by using concealed hangers to support the glass, and allows unobstructed views into the president’s garden through mechanically operated, folding oak sun screens.

Completed 2005.
