Stormont House School, Downs Park Road, London

A new three-storey Special Educational Needs school funded by Building Schools for the Future. The main superstructure is a concrete frame on a 9m x 9m grid to provide large flexible learning spaces, with construction changing to a steel frame to provide a 18m x 18m column free space for the sports hall, designed to the Sport England standards. It was necessary to consider the loads of the new building on a large trunk sewer that passes directly under the new building.
