Textile Conservation Centre, Winchester School of Art, Hampshire

A new headquarters building for the Textile Conservation Centre, and a new two-storey studio block for Winchester School of Art. The concrete framed conservation centre has 1,200 sq m of floor space on three levels, a double height space for four conservation workshops, and a photographic studio. The building contains textile and dye laboratories, washrooms with drained floors, and a quarantine room for incoming tapestries. The rest of the area houses offices, meeting rooms, and a reception. Four seminar rooms on the top floor are shared by the TCC and Winchester School of Art. The new studio block, constructed at the same time as the Textile Conservation Centre was a fast-track steel framed and metal clad construction.
