The Alan Walters Building, University of Birmingham, West Midlands

A new three-storey post-graduate teaching building on the site of an existing car park on the main University campus. The structure consists of high quality visual concrete for all exposed columns and beams plus a double height atrium space with exposed concrete fin walls framing the curtain walling. A 200-seat column free lecture theatre with raking seating arrangement has vertical windows that project out from the side elevation to avoid direct sunlight entering the space.
