Torquay House, London

Redevelopment of a compact existing site located adjacent an operational petrol station and the elevated West Way in the City of Westminster by London Hostels Association Ltd to provide a new 13-storey, 157 room building. The rooms are a combination of micro flats, en-suite rooms and accessible rooms to provide low cost short-term accommodation for workers and students. Price & Myers provided the Structural Engineering and Sustainability Consultancy. The structure is a reinforced concrete frame with flatslabs supported on CFA piles. Pre-cast concrete columns, Twinwall lift cores and pre-cast concrete cladding panels with integrated windows were used with just-in-time deliveries to speed up construction and reduce the storage of materials on the space limited site.

Completed 2015.
