Townley Grammar School, Kent

A large extension to this girls grammar school of three linked buildings: a science laboratory block, large gymnasium, and a performing arts space. The arts building is kite shaped on plan at upper levels with a roof pitched in two directions, making a striking feature at the public end of the new building. While the other buildings are of simple steel frame on load bearing masonry construction, the arts building required a mixture of concrete frame and steelwork to provide the required acoustic performance and overall geometry.

Completed 2006.
