Chetham's School of Music, Manchester

Chetham’s is the largest specialist music school in the UK. The new music building provides a 520-seat concert hall, a recital hall, and extensive teaching and practice space, on a restricted and sensitive site within the existing medieval campus in Manchester. The main building was completed in 2012, but the Stoller Hall and its associated spaces were left incomplete due to financial constraints. In 2013 the design team were commissioned to continue with the fit-out of the concert hall while the rest of the school remained in operation. Access to the site was through a ‘knock-out’ panel in the original brickwork to the side of the building.

Completed 2017.
