Finwell House, London

Price & Myers Sustainability was commissioned by Freshwater Property Management to undertake a BREEAM Assessment on the Finwell House development. The project is a redevelopment of an existing 10-storey 1950s building including the demolition of its 1980s extension. which was replaced with a larger extension. The completed project provides around 8,000 sq m of high-grade office space. We worked with the design team to identify the most cost effective BREEAM credits and the project achieved a BREEAM rating of 'Very Good' when the final post construction assessment was completed. The building performs well in the material section under the BREEAM criteria, as much of the existing structure has been retained and upgraded rather than replaced. New highly efficient glazing and air source heat pumps helped to improve the EPC rating. As a shell and core assessment, we worked with the client and contractor to develop a strategy that would allow credits to be achieved for areas that would ultimately be in the control of the tenants.
