Hagley Haybridge High School, Worcester

The project is a refurbishment of an existing school campus for Worcestershire County Council. We were appointed to provide both sustainability and structural consultancy services. Price & Myers Sustainability provided support to the design team on environmental selection of building materials and BREEAM assessment. The school aims to achieve a ‘Very Good’ rating under the new BREEAM for Schools assessment system. Our Sustainability Team’s focus was also to reduce the embodied energy profile of the building materials. The specification of wall & roof insulation, floorings and claddings (these having the largest embodied energy) were assessed. Based on the design specifications and architectural requirements, research was undertaken to determine local timber sources and low impact materials using lifecycle calculations.
