Iceland Wharf, Stratford

Price & Myers Sustainability were appointed to support the design team on sustainable issues and to help in producing environmental strategies that can be taken fron concept to RIBA Stage E. Our main focus was to address the Mayor of London's spatial development strategy - The London Plan. Although the Local Authority had requested the design team to particularly address the 10% renewable energy policy of The London Plan, we consider it appropriate to 'carbon footprint' the building to show net carbon reductions. A sustainability report for planning was prepared which demonstrated that the development would cut carbon emissions from energy in use by 40%, through renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. Lifecycle embodied carbon from building materials will also be reduced by 50% through green specifications. The project achieved an EcoHomes 'Excellent' rating.
