Price & Myers will join Jamie Fobert Architects and heritage specialist architects Purcell to renovate and refurbish the Royal Observatory at Greenwich in southeast London.
The National Maritime Museum appointed the winning team from an undisclosed shortlist of designers and consultants.
The Royal Observatory famously straddles the meridian line between the west and east hemispheres where it serves as the arbiter of Greenwich Mean Time.
The project will improve the visitor experience at the Observatory and upgrade the historic astronomical and navigational campus of buildings. It will also extend the visitor facilities and refit the retail, café and gallery spaces within the Grade I, II and II*-listed buildings.
The commission extends Price & Myer’s involvement with the Royal Observatory, having first worked on an extensive conservation project in the early 1990s.
