Engineer Will Rogers-Tizard of Price & Myers has won the 2021 IStructE Young Engineering Professional of the Year Award.
Presented by the Institution of Structural Engineers, the award acknowledges one young engineer as ‘the one to watch’ to the Institution’s global membership, and to the design and construction industries.
The award judges noted Will’s commitment to the professional beyond the working week. ‘A real passion for structural engineering is evident in his many activities in and out of the workplace and his consistent involvement with the Institution. Will is a strong believer in the ability for structural engineers to make a positive impact on the world.’
‘It was a brilliant and unexpected surprise to win this IStructE award,’ Will enthused. ‘Each year that I have progressed in my career has given me a better understanding of the important role that structural engineers play in shaping our built environment’.
Will joined Price & Myers in 2014 after completing his studies at University College London and quickly became a valued member of the team. Partner at Price & Myers, David Lockett praised Will for his achievement. ‘Will has developed into a well-respected engineer with excellent technical and communication skills,’ David explained. ‘He has an incredible drive to learn and to better himself, which is inspiring to his peers and the younger engineers he mentors’.
Some of Will’s more significant projects include Hackfield School, 80 New Bond Street, the Eco Business Centre in Bicester, and the National Satellite research Centre in Harwell. He was also a key member of the team that developed PANDA, the Parametric and Numeric Design Assessment software tool that can radically reduce embodied carbon in a building’s fabric.
‘I hope that in the future I can continue to push sustainability as a key driver in my work to create exciting and inspiring structures.’ – Will Rogers-Tizard
Beyond his professional commitments, Will has worked with ‘Bridges to Prosperity’, a not-for-profit organisation supported by Price & Myers to build bridges to benefit people in developing countries to access health, education and trade.
Everyone at Price & Myers congratulates Will for this tremendous achievement and we look forward to seeing his career develop for the betterment of the built environment and the people who share it.
