Kiln Theatre
London

The complete refurbishment of the performance and public spaces, at the previously named Tricycle Theatre. The works to the main auditorium include: lowering the existing floor slab to help provide a flexible seating and staging area; the construction of new seating areas to the stalls and an upper gallery; and the construction of new technical walkways within the existing roof space, incorporating lighting bars and runway beams.

Access throughout the backstage and public areas are improved with a rationalisation of the original floor levels, new stairways and circulation spaces to a three-storey extension, and various enlarged or new openings within the existing structure.

There is a new café space, accessed directly off Kilburn High Road, and the existing bar area has been fully refurbished. Much of the structure is visually exposed and required careful detailing. Funding contributions were made from the Arts Council England.

Completed 2018.
