We are designing a 3,600 sq m extension to the existing Pathology Building at New Cross Hospital, over four floors with a lower ground floor plant area. The new building will become a central hub for the Black Country Pathology Service providing additional services and allowing the department to process much greater volumes of samples.

The original building was constructed back in 2013/2014 with the intention that it could be extended at a later date. The site constraints are complex with the building located on the primary access road around the hospital campus. The issues surrounding site deliveries and lack of material storage space informed the decision to use a steel frame superstructure with precast floors. This allowed a phased construction with ‘just in time’ deliveries to site.
Completed 2020.
