Infinite Accumulation - the final piece of public art to be installed on the Elizabeth Line stretches for 100m along Liverpool Street and is Yayoi Kusama’s largest permanent artwork.
A cloud of mirror polished polka dots are interlinked by sinuously twisted coils of reflective tube. Price & Myers have been involved at every stage from testing the concept, with a box arriving from Japan with Kusama’s hand bent wire models to engineering an invisible array of tricks to make the idea work with the thinnest possible tube, contorted to follow Kusama’s original macquettes.
Hidden dampers, duplex stainless steel and ultra stiff foundations all work together to create a sculpture where the hand of the engineer remains unseen yet is active in enabling the artwork to meet stringent performance requirements associated with the Elizabeth Line.
We are proud to have worked with the team who bought this idea and project to life; Crossrail, Victoria Miro Gallery, the Kusama studio, The Whitewall Company, Futurecity, British Land and the City of London.
